@warmcover @englishtradcat @LukeDashjr One thing to note here: unsentenced personal heresy would not yet deprive NO bishops from jurisdiction (look in Canon Law). Yet, all sedes know intuitively they don't have any, why? Bc the end of authority is the common good.

@warmcover @englishtradcat @LukeDashjr V2 doctrine on the contrary says that by the very consecration the bishop is part of the college of bishops to whom was entrusted the care of the universal Church, and the pope also merely determine where the bishop will exercise his jurisdiction (which he already has).

@warmcover @englishtradcat @LukeDashjr Catholic doctrine is that a bishop has jurisdiction over his own diocese, the care of which was entrusted to him by the Pope; and the universal Church was entrusted to St Peter alone.

@warmcover @englishtradcat @LukeDashjr Pius XII settled that question by teaching that jurisdiction of bishops comes not directly from God, but through the Pope. A Pope has to give jurisdiction to the bishop.

@warmcover @englishtradcat @LukeDashjr Conclavists fall into that error by saying our bishops somehow have jurisdiction by the mere fact of being consecrated bishops. No they have not! As Bp Sanborn says, he has no more jurisdiction than the mailman.
